Your Details

For 25 years, people seeking asylum, refugees and the ASRC community have challenged injustice and called for change.

Your donation helps fund refugee-led advocacy, legal action, research and campaigns that create lasting change.

"We are in this fight together and we can make a difference.”

- Jana Favero, ASRC Deputy CEO & Head of Systemic Change

FREEDOM

You helped expose what was happening offshore.

People sent offshore continue to experience the consequences of Australia’s harmful detention policies. With your support, we documented what is happening in our Hungry for Freedom report, exposing injustice and demanding accountability.

“When we first came to Nauru [Naoero] we were healthy. The longer we are here, the more sick we become and we cannot get treatment. We cannot afford to eat three meals a day. There is no resettlement for us. We are scared and we don’t know what will happen to us.”

FAIRNESS

You helped take the call for permanency to Parliament.

More than 700 refugees who have built their lives in Australia are still being denied the certainty of permanent protection. With your support, refugees have taken their stories directly to decision-makers, and 60,000+ Australians have backed the their call for change, signing our #LetThemStayForGood petition.

“Permanency could really change my life. As a kid my dream was to be a soccer player or a big business owner, but now all I can think of is getting safety, stability and permanency. That’s my only dream."

– Wasim

Change happens because people like you make it possible.

Your donation helps keep the ASRC independent, fearless and able to act when people's rights are under threat.

SAFETY

You’re helping fight for the right to work.

More than 15,000 people seeking asylum are denied the right to work, leaving people unable to support themselves and their families. With your help, we’re campaigning for a fairer system where people can work, study and contribute to the communities they call home.

Former ASRC client Parisa now works at Metro Trains. She knows what having the right to work can make possible, and is calling for everyone seeking asylum to have the same opportunity.

“Work rights are vital for people. We are all hardworking people. We just want to have a simple life, that's it.”
